Anderlecht - Westerlo 2-2

GAMES Anderlecht was held to a 2-2 home draw against Westerlo. Westerlo earned their point as Anderlecht played too passively for 70 minutes. Despite taking an early lead, Anderlecht allowed Westerlo to equalize before halftime. In the second half, a defensive mistake allowed Westerlo to take the lead, which finally prompted Anderlecht to attack more aggressively. Stroeykens salvaged a point for Anderlecht.

The first half was balanced, reflected in the 1-1 halftime score. Anderlecht opened the scoring early with a deflected shot by Dreyer that hit Vazquez. Westerlo equalized in the 37th minute, with Bayram heading into an empty net after Coosemans pushed a free kick onto the post. Despite a strong start, Anderlecht struggled against Westerlo's high press and couldn't maintain control.

After halftime, Stroeykens replaced Vazquez, and though Anderlecht played without a true striker, Stroeykens performed well. Westerlo capitalized on defensive errors in the 60th minute, with Vuskovic heading into an empty net after Coosemans collided with a Westerlo player. Coach Riemer made substitutions, bringing on Edozie and Ashimeru to add pressure, but Anderlecht struggled to break through Westerlo's defense. In the 83rd minute, Angulo found Stroeykens, who scored to secure a point. Despite seven minutes of added time, Anderlecht couldn't find a winning goal.
