GAMES Anderlecht secured a 2-1 victory against Ferencvaros in their first Europa League match. The Belgian team dominated the game from the start, with Edozie and Dolberg showing promise in the attacking third. After the break, Edozie set up Verschaeren for the opening goal, followed by Dolberg converting a penalty to make it 2-0. However, a controversial red card for Angulo and an own goal by Simic brought Ferencvaros back into the game.

Anderlecht managed to hold on to their lead, with goalkeeper Coosemans using his experience to secure the win. The final score was 2-1, with goals from Verschaeren, Dolberg, and an own goal by Simic. The match saw a total of eight yellow cards and one red card for Angulo.

Finally Anderlecht showed some improvement after the sacking of coach Riemer. The Brussels' team actually had control over most of the game and showed some offensive patterns. Ferencvaros also create a few semi-chances but could never really endanger goalkeeper Coosemans. While the 0-0 at half time was still logical, the victory was in the end deserved for the Mauves. Especially in the second half, they create opportunities through Dolberg and Edozie. Verschaeren and Dolberg eventually scored. Even down to ten men at the end, and with Simic scoring an own-goal, Anderlecht easily stand their ground and took the three points.
