Former player Jacques Teugels passed away

OTHER Jacques Teugels, a former Anderlecht player, has died at the age of 78. A youth product of purple and white, Teugels played a number of matches in 1968, but never broke through. He later did at Union and RWDM.


In 1966, Teugels joined the A-core as a 20-year-old. It was not until the 1967-1968 season that he would actually get to play. In eight games, he scored four goals. That is also how he had his share of the national title.

Big names like Van Himst, Devriendt, Mulder and Puis ensured that there was not much prospect of playing opportunities for the young Teugels. So he moved to Union in the summer of 1968. There he would stay for three years and make it to Red Devils. In 1971, Teugels moved to Racing White, which would later merge into RWDM.
