INTERVIEWS Zeno Debast made the decision to leave RSC Anderlecht last year, a decision he made in consultation with his entourage and the club management.former. The only downside to his transfer is that he left purple-white without a title.
He wore the captain's armband at the time and still finds it difficult to talk about it, especially after the dismissal of Brian Riemer, with whom he kept a good contact. Riemer taught Debast to have fun again in defense with at his side Jan Vertonghen with whom he still has a lolly good contact even now. “That's the nice thing about Jan, he was there for me in defense but also off the field, even now.”
Debast made the decision to leave last year, just not with a title in his pocket. “I don't like thinking back on it, we had been working on it for years and suddenly it was gone, at ninety minutes everything shattered. I spent the days afterwards, and even nights, wondering exactly where it went wrong then.”
“I still watch all the games and a title will come. They are not playing the champagne soccer yet, that too takes time but I am confident that everything will come together with time.”
