GAMES Anderlecht won its second home match of the league 3-0 against Standard. Anderlecht played a solid game in which it struck twice before half-time at an ideal moment through Simic and Dolberg. Standard actually did not play badly, but it lacked quality to punish mistakes by Purple White. After half-time Anderlecht had more control and Dreyer scored the 3-0 in extra time. All in all, a deserved win for an efficient Purple and White.
Anderlecht did lead 2-0 at half-time, but against a better opponent that score would probably not have been on the board at half-time. Indeed, Standard were never the lesser in the game, but failed to take advantage of the gaps left by Anderlecht.

Continue reading On the first real attempt by Purple White, Simic headed straight low into goal after nine minutes. Standard responded, but fortunately the pass or cross just did not arrive. Anderlecht also failed to take advantage of the space left by Anderlecht.
The birthday boy Dolberg decided to give himself a nice present on the half-hour. He cleverly took out his keeper and fired high into goal from distance. Goalkeeper Epolo, as with the 1-0, did not look entirely kosher. Just afterwards, Dolberg created a chance for the 3-0 himself, but now Epolo reacted well. This could possibly have decided the match already. In the last quarter of an hour, Standard again pulled the sheet, but Coosemans saved the most dangerous effort, a breakaway shot by Price.
Anderlecht started better after half-time, but it did not really get any chances. After Standard had come on briefly, Verschaeren seemed to decide the match in minute 65 with the 3-0, but Dolberg was narrowly offside at the very beginning of the phase. Is it really necessary to disallow such a goal? Anderlecht did take control of most of the match after half-time. Still, Standard actually had too many chances to be dangerous, requiring a strong Coosemans again, including on a tricky place ball from Zeqiri.
Anderlecht slumped again in the last 20 minutes, but Standard seemed quietly resigned to the fate of defeat. In the added time, Dreyer still scored the 3-0. Like a Danish pigeon out of a box, he popped a controlled shot from an acute angle across the goal. Hopefully this goal will provide the necessary confidence.
So Anderlecht finally wins the league again. It certainly did not play bad football, but there were also weaker moments from which Standard could have benefited. During the international break, Anderlecht can prepare for the game against Beerschot, which must also be won.
