Anderlecht won 0-5 against an attacking incompetent Cercle Brugge. Before half-time, Dolberg put Anderlecht ahead, but Purple and White played in a wait-and-see manner and regularly allowed Cercle to threaten. Anderlecht came out of the dressing room strong and after the 0-2, Cercle collapsed. Leoni, Dolberg again and Vazquez drove the score even higher.

Anderlecht led 0-1 at half-time, but Cercle certainly did not make things easy for the purple and white. The home team showed much more drive up front and had more goal attempts at half-time than Anderlecht. Anderlecht had a bit of luck here and there and Coosemans reacted appropriately to shots and crosses several times.

Anderlecht started very cautiously and played sloppily with the lines far apart. Yet it took the lead in minute 18 after an initial well-crafted attack set up nicely by Edozie and Stroeykens. Dolberg neatly finished Edozie's cross. After the 0-1, Cercle remained regularly dangerous, but in the closing stages Anderlecht almost made it 0-2 when Edozie hit the post after again Stroeykens served him.

After half-time, Cercle again created the first danger. Augusto shot over in minute 51 after Anderlecht's defence was easily played out of context. However, this was the green and black's last feat. Anderlecht reacted and now played better off the space left by Cercle. On the hour, Dolberg kicked Purple White to 0-2 from the spot after hands from Kakou.

In minute 72' Cercle were KO. Leoni scored the 0-3 with a cleverly placed escape shot after corner kick. The 0-4 followed soon after. Dolberg was in the right place to slide a sharp cross from Amuzu into goal. Cercle had to finish the closing stages with ten players after red for Diakité and swallowed a fifth goal in minute 90 when Amuzu isolated Vazquez alone in front of goal and the Argentine finished handsomely.

Anderlecht achieves six out of six in the league and also its biggest away win since the 0-7 monster win over Beerschot in December 2021. The next match, at home against Gent, is the last before the return round starts of the regular league. Anderlecht climb to fourth place in the standings.
