GAMES An efficient and good Anderlecht has won no less than 6-0 against Gent. Rits' 1-0 was a lucky shot (deviated ball), but after that Anderlecht was unbeatable. Purple and white led 3-0 at halftime. Gent was then already reduced to ten players and after halftime it even fell to nine after a second exclusion. Against nine Gentenaars, standout Dolberg and Amuzu drove the score up further in the closing stages. Meanwhile, a weak Gent also scored in their own goal.

An efficient Anderlecht led 3-0 at halftime after a very solid first half. It was lucky with the 1-0 when a shot by Rits deflected off the post and with Coosemans' dangerous run that ended well a couple of times. Gent could only threaten twice from distance, but Coosemans was on hand.

Before Rits' goal it was a close game, but in the closing stages Anderlecht built the lead thanks to the strong trio of Stroeykens, Edozie and Dolberg. The Dane continued his excellent form. The Gent defense couldn't get a grip on the striker who had a big share in the halftime score with an assist for Edozie (2-0) and the 3-0 (again on a free kick). After two yellow for Torunarigha, Gent was allowed to continue with ten.

The halftime score was obviously ideal with Thursday's European match ahead provided that Purple and White stayed on top of their game. But Gent was too weak tonight to threaten the home team. Purple-White continued to threaten after halftime, especially from distance. Edozie and Leoni came close several times to making it 4-0. On the hour, Hubert granted Edozie, Stroeykens and Rits the necessary rest.

Fifteen minutes before time, a second Gent player had to leave the field early. Samoise lightly kicked after Leoni and received a red after a VAR intervention. Immediately after, Dolberg scored the 4-0 with a clever volley. At Gent, they centrally missed Dreyer's cross. Dolberg grabbed the gift with both hands. Gent really did have a horror night, as they also swallowed the 5-0 after a very unfortunate own-goal. Anderlecht kept pushing the gas pedal. Amuzu cleverly scored the 6-0 with a space ball.

A great victory against Gent who made things difficult for Anderlecht the last few years. Without a doubt a good performance by Anderlecht, but it also had the circumstances a bit along at important moments in the match. Not that we want to minimize this performance or result. Hopefully Anderlecht can now maintain this form for a while and put up a strong series in the league.

90': D'Hondt charges no extra time.
88': 6-0! Amuzu scores handsomely in the far corner with a place ball.
87': Roef keeps Dreyer from making it 6-0.
85': 5-0! Owngoal Araujo. Kums deflects with his head but heads against Araujo. The ball swirls over the line. Roef is again hopeless.
82': At Gent, former Anderlecht players Kums and Gerkens are now also on the pitch.
80': Standout Dolberg is replaced by Vazquez.
77': 4-0! Dolberg kicks in the volley from close range into the top corner.
75': Gent empties the chalice to the bottom. Samoise gets red after he makes a wet kick on Leoni.
68': Samoise grabs Amuzu and gets yellow.
62': Edozie, Stroeykens and Rits are allowed to rest. Amuzu, Verschaeren and Dendoncker are their replacements.
62': Edozie kicks not far wide of the second post.
59': Leoni gets another great chance at corner, but the midfielder does not hit the ball well.
58': TWeeple-time Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel also attends the match.
55': Nice combination on the right, but Leoni's shot is too weak.
53': Roef clips a shot by Dreyer.
51': Roef handles a shot by Edozie into corner.
46': An ideal halftime score for Anderlecht with the European match against Porto ahead. Or will Purple and White still make things difficult for themselves against ten Ghent players?
46': Foket replaces the slightly injured Sardella.

HALF TIME

45': 3-0! Dolberg pops the free kick hard into goal after the foul on Edozie. The Dane also scored on free kick at Cercle on the previous match day.
43': Edozie slaloms his way past the Ghent ranks. Torunarigha takes down the Englishman and gets his second yellow.
40': Coosemans is lucky. He chokes on a ball control but is able to regain the ball after a slight pulling error on Dean that is not whistled.
38': 2-0! Edozie taps in goal at the second post. Sardella plays Stroeykens centrally who plays to Dolberg. The Dane looks to post, but Edozie is quick to score.
37': Gandelman kicks from far out on top of the crossbar.
36': Coosemans continues to look for the footballing solution when playing out, but it remains risky.
31': Good combination N'Diaye and Leoni, but no one followed centrally.
25': Good save by Coosemans on a low shot by Delorge.
23': 1-0! Rits kicks Anderlecht into the lead with luck. The shot deflects off Watanabe, Roef is hopeless. Rits' first goal for Anderlecht.
21': Brown takes out centrally, Coosemans pushes in corner.
15': Stroeykens suddenly gets a shooting chance due to Gent losing the ball, but he waits too long.
9': Nice action by Stroeykens, Torunarigha gets yellow after a foul on Dolberg.
