Hubert: “Clearly Zanka does not deserve a suspension”

OTHER The red card for Mathias Zanka Jörgensen has caused a lot of frustration for Anderlecht and coach Hubert. The club believes that the referee, Lothar D'Hondt, acted too quickly in penalizing the Danish player for an intervention on Ferrari. David Hubert, who studied footage of the situation, concluded that Zanka touched the ball, stating, “I can't find a single image where he doesn't touch the ball.”


Zanka also simply kept waiting for the VAR intervention assuming the red card would be undone, but Wesli de Cremer incomprehensibly ruled otherwise.

Hubert indicated afterwards that he was going to ask for more explanation from the refs. “It also seems clear to me that Zanka does not deserve a suspension,” he added. In theory, it is indeed possible that the federal prosecutor's office ruled that “red was a sufficient penalty. After all, this was a direct red and not a suspension because of two yellow cards or a fifth yellow card of the season. 

In any case, Anderlecht has not been under the market with the arbitration in recent weeks. Also against Beerschot, the Brusselers were firmly penalized several times.
