TRANSFERS The uncertainty surrounding Jan Vertonghen's return continues, forcing Anderlecht to look for additional defensive reinforcements during the winter mercato. Olivier Renard, RSCA's new sporting director, stresses the importance of a proactive approach. “We must remain calm, but we strive for the highest goal,” Renard said.
He sees potential in the current group of players and is determined to strengthen them over the winter period. Since his appointment a month and a half ago, Renard has been positive about the development within the club. He appreciates the results and the daily commitment of the team. “With the pressure here, it is important to get results, but I look beyond that. We are on the right track and need to continue that line.”
Renard shows no concern about the busy match schedule. “There are a lot of matches, but the good results create a positive atmosphere in the locker room. The players feel less fatigue and just want to keep going.”
Renard will only take stock after this season, though: “We will evaluate where we are at the end of the season,” he said.
