OTHER A return of Jan Vertonghen on a soccer field still seems far away. Het Laatste Nieuws wrote this morning that the defender doubts his future in gloomy moments, but at an event held by his foundation this afternoon he sounded hopeful. “I am very positive today. I hope to be able to help my teammates and Anderlecht again in the future.”
“This morning I trained well,” Vertonghen said as he was given a piece of cake. So is there any improvement in sight? “We always have to speak with two words, because I've been positive many times in recent months, only to suffer a setback. But right now I'm positive that things are going to be okay.”
“Not everything went smoothly. I suffered a few setbacks. But I'm still a soccer player and still want to be that very much. Then when you can't be that and can't help your team, that doesn't go into the cold.”
So can we say that we are still going to see Vertonghen on a soccer field? “I'm very positive today. I really hope I can still help my teammates and Anderlecht. And that will definitely still happen,” he concludes with a big smile.
