INTERVIEWS Anderlecht starts the new year with the same concerns as before: defensive problems. Jan Vertonghen injured himself during the first training session of the year and will be sidelined for at least six to eight weeks. In addition, Zanka Jorgensen is awaiting his transfer and will not be available for the cup match against Beerschot. Moussa N'Diaye is also struggling with some discomfort and is uncertain.

However, David Hubert remains optimistic and stressed that he will find solutions. Jorgensen will already be out of action tomorrow. The defender seems to have played his last minutes for Anderlecht against Dender, where he was whistled at by part of the crowd and reacted with a gesture. Hubert puts the situation in perspective: “These are things that happen in the world of soccer. Zanka is a player with an exceptional mentality and has always supported us, both on and off the field.”

With Jorgensen absent, the question remains who will take his place at the Kiel. However, Hubert is not letting his cards look in his face: “It's not easy, especially with the limited availability (referring to the lack of defenders; ed.). We have to be creative and consider different options. In the end, the most important thing is that Anderlecht wins, no matter who plays,” he said.

That brings us straight to the current transfer window. Defensive reinforcements are an absolute must. Hubert, however, is confident: “I know how hard they are working and the cooperation is going well,” he said. Next came a question about César Huerta, the Mexican striker who is on his way to Anderlecht (but whose transfer has not yet been finalized). Hubert, however, refused to make any comment on the transfer and playfully replied, “Who? I speak only about Anderlecht's players.”
