TRANSFERS Anderlecht is on the verge of finalizing a second transfer, welcoming 26-year-old Brazilian defender Adryelson to the club. Scheduled for medical tests in Ghent on Tuesday, Adryelson is expected to sign a contract with Anderlecht if all goes well. The defender is being loaned from Lyon, where he struggled for playing time due to fierce competition. Anderlecht has secured a purchase option of €5 million as part of the deal.
Having joined Lyon from Botafogo in January 2024, Adryelson has had limited opportunities to showcase his abilities in France, making just one appearance for the national team. He is anticipated to be available for the upcoming Belgian Cup match against Antwerp.
Meanwhile, the transfers of Mendy and Van der Heyden are not urgent anymore. Anderlecht was betting on several horses but with the arrival of Adryelson, it has landed the necessary defender. Anderlecht might still pursue both options, as more defensive players are needed, but not at all costs.
