OTHER Nathan Verboomen led the game yesterday in a downright appalling manner. There is little debate about that. N'Diaye unfairly picked up two yellow after he himself was first pulled over and then also firmly pushed in the back. However, his reaction earned him two yellow in the same phase: unseen. After the match, Hubert also received yellow when he went to ask for an explanation. The purple and white goalkeeper coach even got a red card under his nose.
That red card reportedly resulted from three words: “It's crazy.” At least that's what bystanders claimed.
Discussing with a referee, and especially one who has completely lost his pedals, is rarely a good plan, of course. But even this comment is not worthy of a red. The indignation was therefore great at Anderlecht. Afterwards, Verboomen apparently admitted that he had misunderstood the remark, but the red was still there. At the office of the Federal Public Prosecutor and the referee's office, they will have a lot of work to do.
Piquant detail: it was also Nathan Verboomen who rewarded Anderlecht in the semi-final of the Cup by not giving a second yellow card for an obvious handball by Janssen. In order to avoid further commotion, it seems appropriate that this man doesn't lead any more Anderlecht matches for a while, doesn't it?
