Dolberg leads Anderlecht to victory against Antwerp

GAMES Anderlecht deservedly won with 2-0 against Antwerp. In the first half the game was close, but purple-white increased the tempo after halftime. They could count on the class of Kasper Dolberg who kicked Antwerp with two fine goals around the hour. Antwerp still went on the attack, but it did not get further than a dangerous shot by Kerk. A nice win ahead of a solid schedule for purple and white.
The first half was not very memorable. Both clubs know each other well this season and took no risks. Despite the attacking lineup, Anderlecht could not create anything beyond a few faint shots towards Lammens. Purple White played slow and often backwards, especially in the first half hour.

Continue reading Antwerp defended firmly and did not do much better offensively, but it did register the dangerous attempt before halftime. A hard shot by Chery was defused by Coosemans just before the half hour. A logical 0-0 at halftime.
After halftime, Purple-White immediately shifted up a gear which resulted in several corners that unfortunately were not always given on level terms. Around the hour, however, Kasper Dolberg unleashed his devils. First Huerta played him well after Antwerp lost the ball. The Dane got some space for the first time and placed the ball neatly next to Lammens in goal. In minute 64, Dolberg doubled the score with a clever takeover in time of a cross from Sardella.
Anderlecht was clearly the better team after halftime, but it had to keep watching. Indeed, Antwerp did not give up yet and in minute 80' Coosemans had to intervene on a hard breakaway shot by Kerk. Antwerp went forward with Alderweireld and Anderlecht waited for the counter. However, Antwerp did not create any real chances, while Anderlecht played a number of counters sloppily. In extra time, newcomer Dao made his debut.
With some tough matches ahead in the league, this is an important win anyway, signed Kasper Dolberg.
