INTERVIEWS Just when the sickbay seemed completely empty, Anderlecht suddenly finds itself with five injured players again. It doesn't make coach David Hubert despondent, but it doesn't make his job any easier. “Puzzling has become my main occupation in the meantime,” he said.

“Of course I ask myself questions,” Hubert said after the match about the many injuries. “It's not nice to see one of your titular players drop out (Edozie, ed.) a few minutes before the match. And it's also not nice to see your top shooter suffer a slight setback (Dolberg, ed.). Moreover, we also had to do it without Yari and Mario, not the first of the best after all. A match every three days leaves its mark. Every week I have to find solutions to put my puzzle together.”

Another match awaits with Fenerbahçe on Thursday. “It's a nice poster for the fans, we're not going to give this game away. After all, you never know in soccer. We are going to try something, but it should be clear that I am not going to take risks with players who are uncertain.”

“I know it wasn't pretty.”

About the match itself then, “It is important to win this kind of difficult match. Thursday's match and the trip brings fatigue. So I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I'm not looking for excuses, but given the state of the pitch, we also decided to play more direct soccer.”

Hubert realizes that Anderlecht did not play its best match. “Our style of play was a little atypical of Anderlecht, but I didn't want us to be naive. We were very mature. I know it wasn't pretty. Neither team created many chances. We have to be able to win matches in other ways as well.”
