Olivier Renard will not attend Clasico

OTHER Olivier Renard, Anderlecht's sporting director, has decided not to attend the Clasico. Not wanting to create additional tension, he chose to fly to Montreal on Saturday morning to take care of some administrative matters. Renard was active at Standard Liege between 2016 and 2019, first as sporting director and later in charge of transfers. Renard's decision comes amid a conflict with the club that arose following a lawsuit filed by former president Bruno Venanzi.


Venanzi accused Renard of fraudulent practices in several transfers, but Renard has always defended his innocence and so far has not been prosecuted. With his absence, he hopes to calm tempers and keep the focus on the match.
