GAMES Anderlecht won the Clasico with 0-2. Hazard curled a clever place ball into goal after halftime and in the closing stages Angulo scored the 0-2 with some luck. It was a match with many duels, but with few refined actions. Standard had a few chances after halftime, but Coosemans still managed to get a clean sheet. With the win, Anderlecht is sure of participation in Champions' Play-offs.
We got to see a not very memorable first 45 minutes in which we mainly saw a lot of duels. Standard started slightly better, but that didn't lead to chances. Anderlecht's play left much to be desired, especially in Standard's half which meant that the attacking pawns were not reached.

Continue reading Anderlecht got two opportunities around the half hour after several corners including a low volley by Augustinsson. Standard was especially threatening on the left through Camara, but they were not really dangerous.
Standard seemed to play more directly after halftime which resulted in some chances. There was a header by Zeqiri and Coosemans had to intervene twice, a.o. on a crafty ball from Lazare.
Anderlecht got out from under the Liège pressure around the hour and climbed into the lead out of nowhere via a clever placing ball from Hazard. Anderlecht could not take advantage of the moment to KO Standard and so it remained exciting. A clever save by Coosemans prevented Camara's equalizer in minute 78.
In minute 87, substitute Angulo suddenly doubled the score. With luck, he deviated a cross from Edozie with his knee and the ball landed (sufficiently) in goal. This goal took away Standard's courage to go for it fully in the closing stages.
Anderlecht did not play a good game, but it did take the full booty at Sclessin. Moreover, the substitutes left a good impression. Edozie and Angulo were the protagonists of the 0-2 and also Ashimeru got his first playing minutes after a long absence.
