TRANSFERS Amadou Diawara, whose Anderlecht contract was terminated by mutual agreement this winter, has found a new team. The 27-year-old Guinean moves to CD Eldense in the Spanish second division.

Diawara signed a contract until the end of this season. Anderlecht acquired the defensive midfielder in the summer of 2022 from AS Roma, which had gone to get him from Napoli two years earlier for a whopping 21 million. Diawara could never live up to expectations at Anderlecht and was soon allowed to leave, especially because of his high wage bill.

Eldense is currently 19th in the standings out of 22 clubs. Despite a large lead over the chasers, the club does currently sit in a relegation spot.
