U13 finish 6th at tournament in Portugal

GAMES After finishing third in the Belgian league, Anderlecht's U13s traveled to Portugal for the prestigious Algarve Elite Cup. In a competitive tournament with strong teams from different countries, purple and white managed to win four out of eight matches, resulting in a sixth place. Throughout the tournament, the U13 never really were dominated by their opponents. They managed to perform consistently, but were sometimes just short of victory against the strongest teams.


This was evidenced by the fact that they lost four times by only one goal difference in crucial matches. A minor disappointment was the defeat against the Danish team Roskilde, on paper however a viable ticket. However, the match followed an intense battle against Ajax, which may have contributed to the players' fatigue.

Nevertheless, the youngsters showed strong performances against local teams, with convincing victories against Braga and Benfica.

In the group stage, Anderlecht recorded the following results:
A win against Elite LA (2-0)
A win against ISR (4-1)
A loss against Brighton (0-1)
A win against Braga (2-0)
One loss against Ajax (0-1)
A loss against Roskilde (0-1)
In the matches for the final ranking, these results were achieved:
A loss against Nordsjaelland (0-1)
A win against Benfica (3-0) 

The top 3 of the tournament were as follows: Ajax came first followed by Braga and Sporting Portugal. Anderlecht finished in sixth place.
