OTHER Sports Director Olivier Renard and new coach Besnik Hasi spoke to the press this afternoon. Anderlecht managed to take Hasi away from Cercle Brugge.

For Renard, Hubert's dismissal had mainly to do with the level of play shown. He realizes that the timing was surprising to many, but he also added that there is never a good time to decide something like this. “It was perhaps easier for me not to intervene and let everything run its course in the playoffs,” Renard said. The Sporting Director stressed that he does not want to become a spectator in the Champions' playoffs but really does want to be more adversarial. Renard also confirmed that Hubert was given the chance to become an assistant but did not want it. Renard also said that Mechelen brought perhaps the most beautiful soccer and that he likes a coach with passion and that is why he is happy to have Hasi. “With Besnik, we want to be fully committed to the top three,” Renard said.

Hasi was told that he must see both results and level of play improve until the end of the season. “For me it is important that passion and grinta return to the team,” Hasi said. He added that Anderlecht should be able to do better with the quality present.

Hasi said he is not angry at all because of his dismissal from Purple White in the past. “This club has given me every opportunity,” Hasi replied. He realizes that a lot has changed and that there are not many familiar faces left from his previous period as coach. He does recognize the progress the club has made in recent years and wants to focus on that in the coming weeks to finally grab another prize.
