19-year-old striker Matkovic in the picture

TRANSFERS Het Laatste Nieuws reports that Anderlecht is following the performance of Anton Matkovic very closely. Matkovic is a 19-year-old striker of NK Osijek. He is considered an alternative to Luis Vazquez, should the latter seek other places in the summer.


Matkovic scored 5 goals in 18 games for Osijkek last season. In September, he made his debut for Croatia's U21 squad. This season, he was mostly in the starting lineup, but hasn't scored in the league yet. He did score twice in the preliminary round of the Conference League in August against Zira of Azerbaijan, but Osijek was still eliminated at that time.

Since late February, Matkovic has been sidelined with a torn cruciate ligament. He should be fit again by next season. Matkovic's contract with Osijek still runs until the summer of 2027. His current market value is estimated at 3.5 million euros.
