Anderlecht present at memorial of Matija Sarkic

OTHER The British School of Brussels organized a tournament on April 4 and 5, 2025 in memory of Matija Sarkic, the former Montenegrin goalkeeper who tragically passed away in June 2024 at the age of just 26. The event, which included the participation of RSC Anderlecht and his previous clubs, was all about celebrating friendship and the unifying power of sport. Sarkic was remembered as a person with infectious enthusiasm and a positive outlook.


Previous teammates, including Youri Tielemans and Orel Mangala, shared emotional testimonies that highlighted his warm and happy nature. These stories illustrate the lasting impression he has left on his friends and fellow players.

Matija Sarkic played for RSC Anderlecht from 2005 to 2015 before continuing his career in England, including with Aston Villa and Millwall. He eventually became the first goalkeeper of the Montenegrin national team.
