OTHER In the final stage of his career, Jan Vertonghen is struggling with injuries, which have plagued him since the beginning of the season. The Anderlecht captain is currently inactive on the pitch, but remains a crucial link within the team. His physical condition, including problems with the Achilles tendon and ankles, has limited him to just three games. Despite this, Vertonghen has set his sights on participating in the cup final against Club Brugge on May 4, but that seems “mission impossible.

“There are good days and bad days. It's a bit of roulette,” Vertonghen said earlier this month. Although he cannot play, the captain remains an important presence off the field. He is actively involved in the team, acts as a motivator and is present at all preparation matches.

He is also a constant factor after games, where he provides valuable feedback to younger players such as Jan-Carlo Simic and Lucas Hey. Moreover, Vertonghen shows his dedication by spending hours daily in the gym, setting an example for his teammates.

He is determined, if possible, to play another role on the field during the playoffs so that he can celebrate his farewell as a soccer player with dignity.
