OTHER Jan Vertonghen will be honored on June 9 at the King Baudouin Stadium for his impressive career with the Red Devils, prior to the World Cup qualifier against Wales. The 38-year-old record international (157 caps) will retire from professional football after this season.
Vertonghen is already looking forward to an emotional farewell in the presence of family, friends and fans. The Football Association calls the tribute a deserved farewell for a true legend.
After his career, Vertonghen plans to focus even more on his foundation, which is dedicated to inclusion and sports for vulnerable children. The shirts of the Red Devils will be auctioned after the match and the proceeds will go to this foundation as well as to Belgian Red Courts, an initiative of the Belgian football association.
