OTHER The tensions between Wouter Vandenhaute, the chairman of RSC Anderlecht, and the supporters continue. During a post-match interview at the King Baudouin Stadium, the familiar slogans of “Wouter Buiten” soon sounded in the background. The situation escalated when Vandenhaute's car was surrounded by disgruntled fans demanding his departure (further exacerbated by the defeat in the cup final against Club Brugge). Despite his efforts to modernize the club with an effective marketing strategy and financial input, Anderlecht was left without sporting results.

Vandenhaute did try to make the club more attractive during this period, but the team failed to win a single trophy. Financially, Vandenhaute has made quite significant investments and stabilized the club's finances, which is why Anderlecht is now presenting green figures again after years of losses.

Despite ongoing criticism, he remains determined to continue his work, believing he can improve the situation. “We are on the right track,” he said after the cup final, despite the visible disappointment of the loss. Part of the fans, however, blame him mainly for a lack of stability and knowledge of the football world.

A resignation is theoretically possible, but not an issue, since Vandenhaute is also just a shareholder and thus will continue to weigh in on policy anyway. The best way forward is simply to opt for stability and be surrounded by the right people who can build a clear vision and a sustainable sporting policy. This is the only way to build a successful long-term team.
