GAMES Anderlecht has lost yet again to Union. It owed the 0-1 defeat to itself after losing the ball which was the basis of the goal and due to a missed penalty kick in the second half. Union, which also missed a penalty early in the match, otherwise easily held its own against a sloppy playing Anderlecht.

Union started the match in its familiar style and after less than a minute of play, N'Diaye managed to cause a penalty. It took a long time before the penalty was effectively given and Ivanovic kicked it wide. Anderlecht escaped the early deficit and responded on the quarter hour with a header from Dolberg.

Purple and white just didn't seem to learn from their mistakes, as ball loss (this time from Verschaeren) was again at the root of a silly goal against. Fuseini was quickly put alone in front of goal by Ivanovic and he finished neatly, just before the half hour.

Such a lead is fodder for Union, which knows very well how to deal with a lead. Angulo, for example, was fouled a couple of times and that was all that Purple White was capable of in the first half.

El Hadj had the first chance after halftime, but the former Anderlecht player kicked over. It was striking that ball loss was again the basis of the chance.

On the hour, Angulo was tapped in the penalty area by Mac Allister and now Smet also gave Anderlecht a penalty. Moris took Dolberg's penalty, but Stroeykens pushed the rebound over the line. However, the goal was disallowed because Stroeykens ran too fast into the penalty area. By the way, it had been a long time since Anderlecht missed a penalty in the league, possibly this was a miss that will help determine the championship.

After that, the match bogged down in the same pattern of play again. Anderlecht that was unable to be dangerous because it played far too sloppy and Union that waited for its chance. Nine extra minutes were given because of the earlier VAR intervention, but Anderlecht didn't get further than a poor corner.

Thus, Anderlecht closes the league with not a single goal scored against Union this season and an embarrassing one out of twelve in the mutual confrontations.
