TRANSFERS Fabrice Cumps, the mayor of Anderlecht, has now also signed a formal mayoral decision banning Sunday the presence of Club Brugge supporters in the away section and on the territory of the Anderlecht municipality. Bruges fans may take legal action against this.

"The purpose of this ordinance is to preserve general public order, but also to guarantee the safety of Bruges supporters who could face reprisals after the violent incidents some of them caused during the final of the Belgian Cup," an announcement reads.

The mayor also banned the presence of people without tickets in the usual security perimeter around the Lotto Park.

According to lawyer Walter Van Steenbrugge, who often acts as counsel for Club Brugge supporters, this decision is "asking for misery." "Neither from a human nor from a legal point of view is this a good idea," he told Het Laatste Nieuws. He says he is studying the police order now, but will definitely appeal it.
