Lardot: "No red for Burgess and no penalty either"

OTHER Referee boss Lardot returned to the much-discussed stages of the match between Union and Anderlecht. Lardot does not think Anderlecht should have been awarded a penalty after Mac Allister's “foul”. "The defender makes no movement and Angulo makes an extra jump," it sounds. So the VAR intervention and the ref's final decision were wrong. What Lardot did find correct was the yellow for Burgess after a foul on that same Angulo. "I could have lived with red, but in the end the integrity of the player is not compromised," he said.


The decision to disallow Stroeykens' goal was fully justified, according to Lardot, although the referee boss does not understand why it had to take so long. Clearly, then, Lardot was anything but set up with the video ref's performance in the last league match.
