OTHER Recently, a new stadium for RSC Anderlecht was in the news again. The plans are not concrete, as they depend on the effective location and available budgets. But chairman Vandenhaute is thinking of a multifunctional complex, which would also have space for concerts. This would also allow external funding to be raised through partners. Cora's location was mentioned as a possibility, just off the Brussels Ring in Anderlecht. This option was mentioned but other plans are still being studied.
That people within the club are beginning to think more about a new home base after all is evident from the fact that more details are gradually coming out. The club considers an expansion of the current Lotto Park as not feasible. This option would then be dropped. Various media are now also reporting that there is talk of a capacity of 50,000 seats. That is more than double what the current Lotto Park has to offer. Currently, the stadium is sold out for every home game and there is a waiting list of some 5,000 people for season tickets. This means that currently Anderlecht could certainly accommodate between 25,000 and 30,000 visitors (knowing that there would then also be more space for visiting fans). Single ticket sales would then also become possible again and significantly more fans could come to the stadium for the top games.
