YOUTH Anderlecht had Abdel Camara sign his first professional contract today. The 15-year-old midfielder has committed to purple-white until 2028. "Abdel was a late bloomer on a physical level, but on a mental level he was mature early on," is how Anderlecht describes the player
The young Camara began playing football at Crossing Schaerbeek. In 2018, he joined Anderlecht's U9 squad. He currently plays as a midfielder or defender with the U16. He is also part of the Belgian Football Federation's Futures selection.
“Abdel arrived at purple and white in 2018 and since then has developed with seriousness and regularity,” said head of youth training Tim Borguet. "He has been trained at Neerpede since U9 and quickly showed rare maturity for his age. Abdel is an intelligent and disciplined midfielder, comfortable under pressure, combining composure, conscientiousness and game insight. Now he gets the chance to continue his trajectory here, with the same dedication."
Abdel is the son of former professional soccer player Lanfia Camara. Who played for FC Brussels, Racing Mechelen and Patro Eisden, among others. He also played 14 times for the Guinea national team. Abdel's youngest brother also plays for Anderlecht.
