INTERVIEWS Besnik Hasi is facing his last two games as Anderlecht coach. “A final decision on an extended stay will only be made after the season. There is more work than I thought, but it is a challenge I want to take on,” Hasi said. The evaluation talks with CEO Sports Tim Borguet and sporting director Olivier Renard are scheduled after the last game against Racing Genk.

Hasi stressed that the outcome of the upcoming duels should not determine his future at the club. “The real talks will take place after the season, as we agreed prior to the playoffs,” he said.

So far, Hasi has had disappointing results, with only three wins in nine games and a fourth-place finish in the playoffs. Despite the disappointing performance, Hasi believes he has brought more stability to the team and that some players, such as Šimić and Dendoncker, have progressed.

However, he acknowledges that the lack of true leaders on the field is a problem. “Anderlecht needs players who are fully committed to the team,” he added.

Vertonghen, expected in the starting lineup against Club Brugge, will have a dignified farewell during his last game at the Astridpark. After Vertonghen, new leaders must emerge. For this, Hasi sees potential in young players such as Jan-Carlo Šimić.

“It is financially difficult to directly recruit players ready for the title, so the focus should be on the youth training in Neerpede,” Hasi continued, remaining optimistic. “Of course I would like to remain Anderlecht's coach for the next season. It would be a nice challenge,” he concluded.
