Huawei used box for European lobbying work

OTHER Belgian security services have bugged a box in the RSC Anderlecht stadium used by Chinese tech giant Huawei for lobbying activities on MEPs. The activities are part of a major investigation. Huawei rented the lodge this season for about 50,000 euros. 


The investigation focuses on possible bribery of MEPs in exchange for favors such as paid trips and events and has already led to several indictments, partial confessions of MEPs and withdrawal of immunity.

RSC Anderlecht has since announced that it will not renew its contract with Huawei. That expired at the end of the season anyway.
