OTHER Colin Coosemans is recognized as Anderlecht's best player this season, but disappointment over the number of wins in the Champion's Play-Offs lingers. The goalkeeper describes the season as tumultuous, with too many fluctuations and a lack of consistency, especially in the league. Despite a reasonable European run and a good cup campaign with admittedly a disappointing apotheosis, the disappointment in the league is great. Coosemans points to the change of three trainers as a major factor in the instability within the club.
“Every trainer change means starting over, which hinders progress,” he said. The goalkeeper advocates stability and hopes for the confirmation of Besnik Hasi as coach for that reason, but is holding off until the club makes a final decision.
He calls the poor results against the league's top three, with only one point out of 36, a clear failure and stresses that stability is essential both on and off the field.
Coosemans also expresses concern about retaining some contributing players, as he believes the team is lacking in experience and cunning. For the upcoming transfer period, however, there is a lot of work to be done and finances are crucial, but the question remains whether Anderlecht has enough budget (and thus must sell first).
Finally, Coosemans pleads for a gradual approach by the club leadership to ensure stability.
