YOUTH The Belgian U17 lost the European Championship semifinals to France 3-2. Despite strong dominance in large parts of the match, the young Belgians were punished for their lack of precision in finishing, while the French made efficient use of their chances. The disappointment is great for the Belgians, who had hoped to make history with this promising generation. They have never reached the final of the Euro U17, and this match was a chance to capture that milestone.
The game had an exciting sequence with a goal by Camara for France in the 42nd minute, followed by an equalizer by Fernandez from a penalty shortly before halftime.
After the break, France regained the lead with goals by Matondo and N'Guessan, before Wins made the final score 3-2 with a free kick in the 79th minute.
Anderlecht midfielder Nathan De Cat played the entire match and was unlucky early in the match when his header was saved off the line.
