INTERVIEWS In 2021, Craig Bellamy left his position as assistant coach at RSC Anderlecht for personal reasons. His friend and coach, Vincent Kompany, struggled to convey the news to the player group, so emotional was he. Bellamy's career has been marked by both highs and lows, but in Brussels he had found a certain stability. He cherishes fond memories of his time in Belgium, where he lived on Avenue Louise and appreciated the country's structure.
His ties to Belgian football remain strong, and he still maintains contact with Kompany and other former colleagues at RSC Anderlecht.
In 2022, Bellamy followed Kompany to Burnley, where he was able to build on his experience. He was later appointed head coach of the Wales national team. With his knowledge of young Belgian talents such as Jeremy Doku and Zeno Debast, he is optimistic about transitioning after the golden generation of Belgian soccer. Bellamy now faces Belgium and he harbors ambitions to qualify Wales for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
