INTERVIEWS The first big match of the season is upon us. Anderlecht must eliminate Swedish side BK Häcken to advance in the Europa League. If RSCA needs determination and aggression, they can count on Nathan Saliba.


Nathan Saliba, a 21-year-old Canadian midfielder, was brought in by Anderlecht to strengthen the midfield, which was considered not aggressive enough last season. Saliba prefers "too much aggression rather than too little": he wants to embody the fighting spirit needed for European matches, such as the match against BK Häcken.

"I'm a pretty tough player, yes. I like to win the ball and play forward quickly. The yellow cards could be an area for improvement, but that's a lesson I've already learned."

Saliba, born to Haitian immigrants in Canada, speaks fluent French and is highly adaptable. His choice of number 13 at Anderlecht is an unintentional nod to Tomasz Radzinski, a former Canadian player at RSC Anderlecht.
