GAMES If Brugge and Anderlecht survive their second legs in the third qualifying round of the European competitions, the fifth round of the Belgian league on August 23 and 24 will be at stake. The clubs want to postpone their matches, with Brugge wanting to move their match against Westerlo and Anderlecht wanting to move their match against Gent to Sunday, August 24. The Genk-Charleroi match was also postponed earlier.
Anderlecht, who first need to qualify against Tiraspol, are taking advantage of the rule that allows clubs to move their league match between two European play-off matches. After a convincing 3-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol, the Brussels side have a good chance of advancing in the Conference League, where they will face either Aris Limassol or AEK Athens.
The new date for the postponed match against Gent has yet to be determined. The scheduling team is awaiting the results of the European qualifiers before making a decision.
