GAMES While Union and Club Brugge prepare for exciting European clashes, Anderlecht face a long, empty autumn after being eliminated by AEK Athens. Despite last week's strong performance in Brussels, Anderlecht only travelled with a draw and quickly came under pressure in Greece. The Mauves never managed to take control over the match and lost 2-0...
Koita opened the scoring after Angulo's loss of possession, and early in the second half Kutesa doubled the lead. Anderlecht tried to respond but barely created danger. The 2-0 defeat means Anderlecht are out of Europe, leaving them to fully focus on the league, where fans will expect intensity and determination every weekend.
The defeat also means a loss of about 10 million euro on European income. This means the club will have to sell one or more key players to stay financially healty.
