Simic: “Al-Ittihad is a top club, even in Europe”

INTERVIEWS Defender Simic left Anderlecht last minute to join Saudi club Al-Ittihad. The Purple & White received a hefty check, and Simic is also extremely satisfied with the deal: “I was happy in Brussels, but transfers are part of football.”


Simic is grateful to Anderlecht for this opportunity: “I became a Serbian international at Anderlecht and had an excellent relationship with the fans. I would love to visit Brussels again.”

“I am also grateful to Olivier Renard for his cooperation in the transfer. Al-Ittihad is a top club full of world stars. It could easily compete with the best in Europe. And the Saudi league is strong, certainly a lot stronger than the Belgian league. On top of that, life here is also very pleasant,” he says.
