GAMES RSC Anderlecht has rejoined the top three with a narrow but deserved 1-0 victory against AA Gent. After a disappointing performance against Antwerp, it was not a gala performance, but the purple and white could count on a solid block in midfield. The key players? Two young “Nathans”: Nathan De Cat (17) and Nathan Saliba (21).

Besnik Hasi surprised everybody with a 3-5-1-1 formation. The most striking choice: no Enric Llansana, but the very young Nathan De Cat as the controlling midfielder. The teenager played a nearly flawless match: sharp in interceptions, strong in positioning, and daring in passing. "He brought us the maturity we lacked against Antwerp," praised Hasi.

Saliba grows into his role

Alongside De Cat, Nathan-Dylan Saliba also proved his worth. The Canadian midfielder worked hard, dug into the duels, and provided the assist for Stroeykens, whose deflected shot yielded the winning goal. According to Hasi, Saliba can still improve in tight spaces, but he appreciated his constant drive forward.

De Cat and Saliba proved against Gent that they can offer Anderlecht a new balance. However, the question remains whether this is more than a one-off glimpse of talent. The next match, against OH Leuven, will show whether the Nathans can confirm their role as key players.

Vázquez remains a concern

While the young Nathans impressed, the striker position remains a sore point. Luis Vázquez had more chances but couldn't find the back of the net. "He worked hard, but it's a shame he didn't score," said Hasi. However, relief prevails after the victory, because the pressure on the coach gradually increased after an 11 out of 21.
