YOUTH Peter Verbeke and Anderlecht are parting ways for a second time, the club announced. Verbeke, currently a Talent Manager for the youth team, is leaving football and will work as a lawyer at Walter Van Steenbruggen's firm.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, Verbeke's departure, who was appointed by Wouter Vandenhaute, has nothing to do with the latter's departure as chairman. Verbeke had been considering the idea for some time, the newspaper reports. He will remain at Anderlecht until the end of this year to complete and pass on his responsibilities.

Between 2020 and the autumn of 2022, Verbeke was sporting director of the Purple & White. After a mentally challenging period and the arrival of Jesper Fredberg, he bid farewell to the club for the first time in October 2022. He returned as Talent Manager for the youth team at the end of 2023.

"After five seasons, I am saying goodbye to RSC Anderlecht," Verbeke said in a statement on rsca.be. "It has been an absolute privilege to be able to oversee the development of our young talents in various roles. I am immensely grateful to the club—and to all the talented people I have had the pleasure of working with over the past few seasons."

"I have now found another challenge where I can apply my accumulated expertise to not only legally protect young athletes but also to guide them in their athletic and personal development," said Verbeke, who will focus on sports law at the law firm.
