OTHER Romelu and Jordan Lukaku had to say goodbye to their father, Roger Lukaku, who passed away at the age of 58. The Red Devils striker wrote a poignant message expressing his gratitude and grief.
“Thank you for teaching me everything I know,” Lukaku opens his message. “I am forever grateful and will always appreciate you. Life will never be the same.”
The striker describes the void the loss leaves in him: “I will never be the same again. The pain is immense and the tears keep flowing. Yet I know that God will give me the strength to get back up.”
Lukaku concludes his message by mentioning his father by name and nickname one more time: Roger Menama Lukaku, better known to friends as Vieux Roy. "Thanks for everything, Dad," he writes.
Roger Lukaku was a professional footballer himself in the 1990s, playing for KV Oostende, Germinal Ekeren, and KV Mechelen, among others. He was the father of both Romelu and Jordan Lukaku, who both made it to the Belgian national team.
