FLASHBACK In 2015, Tottenham had risen to become an absolute European top club. On October 22, 2015, Anderlecht faced them in the group stage of the Europa League. Purple and white fell behind after just 4 minutes thanks to a goal from Eriksen, but they fought back. Guillaume Gillet equalized 10 minutes later, and Okaka scored the winning goal a quarter of an hour before the end.
The return match in England would also be memorable. On November 5, Anderlecht once again erased a deficit: Ezekiel canceled out Kane's opening goal fifteen minutes before time, but Mousa Dembélé, the Belgian with the velvet feet, unleashed a powerful shot just before the final whistle. He still delivered the coveted victory to Tottenham.
Anderlecht would advance to the next round as second in the group, after Tottenham but before Monaco and Qarabag. In the next round, the Mauves beat Olympiakos with the smallest difference at home. In Greece, that advantage was quickly erased but in extra time Frank Acheampong scored twice and gave Anderlecht a 1-2 victory. In the 1/8 finals, Donetsk was too strong (0-1 and 1-3 loss). Sevilla would go on and win the Europa League's edition of that season.
