GAMES Anderlecht has achieved a much-needed home victory against Club Bruges, winning 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Mechele in the early minutes of the match. The hosts took the lead just six minutes in when De Cat delivered a precise pass to Hazard, leading to Mechele inadvertently directing the ball into his own (under pressure of Cvetkovic) net while attempting to clear a cross.

Anderlecht kept attacking, but struggled to create significant scoring opportunities, with De Cat shooting wide a few times. The home side had everything under control though. But as the first half progressed, Bruges began to find their rhythm, with Tzolis emerging as their most threatening player. Just once, Coosemans needed to make a save in stoppage time from a shot by Tzolis.

The second half saw Anderlecht adopt a more cautious approach while still maintaining their status as the more dangerous team. Bertaccini posed a consistent threat, but Jackers thwarted a potential second goal twice.

As the match approached its final stages, Anderlecht's energy waned, allowing Bruges to press for an equalizer. In a tense moment, Coosemans saved the day by denying Mechele's shot from a loose ball, marking Bruges' first real chance of the half. The match concluded with a flurry of yellow cards but no further goals, solidifying Anderlecht's position in the league standings.

Looking ahead, Anderlecht aims to build on this momentum after the international break, starting with their next match against La Louvière.
