TRANSFERS In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, Olivier Renard discusses Cedric Hatenboer's situation in detail. “When the player is ready, Anderlecht does give young footballers opportunities,” says Renard, citing Nathan De Cat as an example.
“Cedric has talent, but the Dutch second division cannot be compared to the Belgian top division,” says Renard. The sporting director indicates that both parties must take steps to reach a solution. “The club must find a way to boost Cedric's confidence, but he must also make a connection himself.”
Renard indicates that in January, they will consider whether a (temporary) departure is appropriate.
Renard disputes that Hatenboer is not being given opportunities. He points out that last summer, the club sidelined midfielders Rits and Ashimeru to make room for young, talented players, among others. “When De Cat caused a fatal penalty against Häcken, it would have been easy to fall back on the experienced guys. We didn't do that.”
Colin Coosemans has a contract until 2027, but has not yet responded to a new proposal. The goalkeeper wants an improved contract, and Renard says that the contract offered to the goalkeeper is in line with current standards. He also adds that Coosemans' situation is less urgent.
