INTERVIEWS Besnik Hasi acknowledges that his team did not play well in the first half against Genk; things improved in the second half, enabling Anderlecht to win. “Genk had the best chances, but the defense held firm,” he said. He was particularly proud of his team's perseverance in this match: “I was pleased with their attitude.” Hasi immediately added that this mentality was not there when he took over.

Hasi also saw that certain players were not performing at their best, but did not mention any names.

“I thought we had equalized with that shot from Thorgan Hazard,” he said about the ball hitting the underside of the crossbar. “In the second half, we took the risk of bringing in all our offensive assets,” he continued. Hasi also praised the constructive impact of Nilson Angulo and the good substitute appearances of Yari Verschaeren and Mario Stroeykens.

Hasi was briefly shocked by Ibrahim Kanaté's six-fold somersault after his goal, which always carries a risk of injury. Kanaté did receive compliments for his impressive substitute appearance in a position that is not his own.
