OTHER We are only halfway through the 2025–2026 season, but on Thursday the Pro League already revealed the broad framework for the 2026–2027 season. Due to the World Cup, the championship — in principle the first in 17 years without play-offs — will start slightly later than usual. The Belgian Cup final will take place after the season.

  • Supercup: Sunday, 2 August 2026, between the league champion and the Belgian Cup winner
  • Start of the league: Friday, 7 August 2026, later than in previous seasons
  • Challenger Pro League: starts on Friday, 14 August 2026
  • End of the league: weekend of 21–23 May 2027. The champion will be known no later than 23 May.
  • Belgian Cup final: Sunday, 30 May 2027, after the end of the league competitions
  • Challenger Pro League: end of the regular phase no later than 1 May 2027
  • Promotion play-offs (Challenger): 6, 9, 15 and 22 May 2027

Winter break: from 28 December 2026 to 14 January 2027. The championship resumes immediately after the break, without a Croky Cup round in January.

There should also no longer be any midweek league matches. The Belgian Cup will be given greater prominence, with the round of 32 taking place on a weekend (16–18 October 2026). The round of 16 will also be staged on a weekend, namely 4–6 December 2026. The final will serve as the major season-closing event.
