TRANSFERS Yari Verschaeren will not be renewing his expiring contract with Anderlecht. Het Laatste Nieuws understands that the club has offered him a new contract with a lower salary and that the player has decided not to accept it. If Anderlecht still wants to make some money from him, it will have to sell him this month.

However, there is not much interest. Only from Turkey - especially Trabzonspor - but Verschaeren himself is not (yet?) keen on that. The player's entourage dismisses AZ's alleged interest as nonsense.

Verschaeren made his debut in November 2018 as a 17-year-old in Anderlecht's first team and immediately charmed everyone. At the end of 2019, his market value was €16 million. Partly due to injuries, he subsequently failed to establish himself as Anderlecht's new star player. In 2023, the club showed its confidence in Verschaeren, who was sidelined with injury at the time, by offering him a lucrative contract until 2026.

That contract expires this summer, which means that Verschaeren has been free to talk to interested clubs since January 1. His market value has dropped to €3 million.
