Mattis Seghers, 1m93, is the first face of the famous “Project Proto.” Silvio Proto, now the driving force behind goalkeeper training, wants to bring RSCA back to the level of the best schools in the country. No more dependence on elsewhere: Neerpede must deliver the next number one.
And the first serious candidate... is Mattis. Proto is clear: “He has the qualities of a modern goalkeeper: reflexes, footwork, power... You'd think he was 22.”
Club Brugge, Genk, Monaco, Manchester City... everyone has noticed him. But Mattis chose Anderlecht, where he signed his first professional contract at the age of 15 and extended it until 2028. He is known as a hard worker, also at school (where he skipped a year).
The goal is clear: in 2026, he should make his first minutes in 1B with the Futures. After that, he will aim for the A-team, without skipping any steps. “But we sometimes have to slow him down. Otherwise, he would train day and night,” Proto said about him.
