INTERVIEWS Last Thursday, Lotto Park said farewell to René Peeters, who is retiring. In Het Laatste Nieuws, he reflects on his finest moments at Anderlecht. He also highlights two Neerpede players from whom he has high expectations in the coming years.

"Mark my words: one day, Tristan Degreef will become an undisputed first-team starter," he says emphatically. "Joshua Nga Kana, on the other hand, impressed me the most. He's incredibly versatile."

In the 27 years that Peeters worked in Anderlecht's youth academy, he saw many talented players come through the ranks. "Romelu Lukaku wasn't a pure talent. He struggled technically when he joined us. But he worked like a madman: the more often he missed, the harder he trained."

Peeters finds it a great pity that Noah Sadiki and Lucas Stassin weren't given a decent chance with the first team.
